[Book Tag] Inside & Out

Inside & Out Book Tag

It's been awhile since I've done a book tag, so I thought I would give this one a go!

I saw this tag posted by Irena over at Books and Hot Tea, but I couldn't track down the original creator. If you know who created this post, please let me know so I can credit them.

Inside & Out Book Tag

1. Inside flap/back of the book summaries: Too much info or not enough?
I very rarely read the inside flap/back of the book summary before diving into the book. But in the situations where I do read those sections, I prefer the blurbs to be very short and sweet; blurbs that don't give too much away. I love the blurbs that are written so well that they make me want to read the entire book as soon as possible!

2. New book: What form do you want it in?
I like to say that I'm really not that picky when it comes to book formats.

If I'm checking a book out from the library, I really don't care whether it is hardcover, paperback, or an ebook. I also really enjoy audiobooks, but because I listen to so many podcasts, my audiobook consumption is still a bit lacking (and it doesn't help that I'm incredibly picky about the narrators).

When purchasing books, I do tend to prefer hardcover. But I also buy paperbacks from time to time, and ebooks when I see a three-dollars-or-less price tag on a book that I just cannot pass up.

That all being said, I definitely prefer a physical copy of a book when it comes to bookstagraming and such, just so the colors of the cover can be shown.

3. Scribble while you read? Do you like to write in your books, take notes, make comments, or do you keep your books clean clean clean?
If I own the book I am reading, I will occasionally mark or highlight passages that I really love. But most of the time, I just use post-its while reading to mark the sections I think I will want to go back to.

4. Does it matter to you whether the author is male or female when you’re deciding on a book? What if you’re unsure of the author’s gender?
Not at all.

5. Ever read ahead? Have you ever read the last page way before you got there?
There is only one situation where I can remember reading ahead purposefully. That was with Behind Her Eyes. I was told that the ending was insane, but I was just so bored with the book... So I read the last page and was very confused. So I pushed through to see how the storyline got there. Needless to say, I was not impressed.

Then of course there are numerous times when I put a book down, pick it up later, and glance at a page to figure out where I was, only to be spoiled by the action that happened soon after I had taken a break... So frustrating!

6. Organised bookshelves, or outrageous bookshelves?
My shelves are currently a bit outrageous because we are still in a small townhouse where space is very limited. When we buy a home, one of the first things on my needs list is a great bookshelf. So I am hoping to be more organized then!

7. Have you ever purchases a book based on the cover alone?
Yes! I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but sometimes I definitely do. I'm a total sucker for well designed covers.

8. Take it outside to read, or stay in?
I love reading outside! Last year for my birthday, my boyfriend bought me a lovely reclining lawn chair and a small table that I could use out on our back patio. Unfortunately, our neighbors smoke and slack a bit in cleaning up after their dogs... So going outside to read isn't always a pleasant experience where we live now. One day I will have a lovely (and private!) patio and yard to read in without breathing in anything that gives me an asthma attack!

I tag (no pressure of course!):
Heather at Heather's Reading Hideaway
Joyce at The Paperback Princess
Mikaela at The Well-Thumbed Reader
Brooklyn at Brooklyn's Bookish World
